The Letter

The scene opens to Hiroyuki (player character) at his home in the city lazing around for Summer Vacation. His mother gives him a letter from an old friend back in his hometown, Minasato Village. He reflects on his memories and decides to return.

On the Bus

We cut to him riding on the bus on his way to Minasato. He ponders his feelings towards his friends who he lost contact with for so long.

At the Bus Stop

(bgm free0258)

While getting off the bus, nearby bushes rustled. Out popped a large, muscular tiger man, scaring the poor human boy. Hiroyuki barely recognized the tiger, Torahiko, who grew massively in the intervening years. It seems he was the one who wrote the letter. After some more manhandling, he invites Hiroyuki to a welcome party at the local restaurant, Raimon. Also, there’s no cellular reception in the village.

To Grandparents’ Home

As they’re walking, they catch up on how the village has been since Hiroyuki left 5 years ago. Barely anything has changed

Morenatsu Day 1 - Choose Your Route-0

Party at the Raimon

After arriving at the quaint little Raimon, the old man directs him towards his waiting friends, Shin the sharp tongued cat and Kouya the very cool husky (not wolf). Torahiko arrives shortly after. Apparently everyone pitched in to rent out the whole place just for him. Kouya & Tora nearly fight. Thankfully Shun the wolf, woofs cutely. He wants to resume gaming with Hiroyuki. Kouya reveals a softer side around Shun.

Tora starts acting out again before getting knocked out by the strong arm of Juuichi, the stoic bear. He walked in alongside Kyouji the mysterious labrador and Soutarou the lion - who was a new face to the old posse Hiroyuki used to hang with.

A gigantic presence interrupts the greetings - Tatsuki the dragon. As the oldest, he has already started working as an apprentice carpenter. After admiring his height and poking his prominent belly, the talk turns to the last tardy person of the group. Kounosuke the chubby tanuki finally shows up 30 mins late - which is surprisingly early. He excitedly smothers Hiroyuki with questions about the city.

Now that all his friends have arrived, the food & drink can finally be served. As usual, the drink part will be swiftly guzzled down by Tatsuki.

Who to sit beside?

Everyone starts fighting over who gets to sit with Hiroyuki. Nauseated by the chaos, he excuses himself to the bathroom. After returning, we are given 8 (or 9) choices of husbandos to choose from:

  1. Next to Tatsu-nii?
  2. How about with Kouya?
  3. Ah, spot next to Shin-kun.
  4. Space next to Kounosuke.
  5. Between Kyouji and Soutarou…
  6. Too cramped next to Juuichi?
  7. Probably room next to Shun-kun.
  8. I feel Torahiko looking at me.

1. Together With Tatsu-nii[]

Tatsuki 1783

Tatsuki Midoriya

Tatsuki beckons you over to him, with a little too much gusto. Everyone raises their drinks to toast a Kanpai! to the guest of honor. After everyone starts eating, Tatsuki goes for another round of drinks. While talking about his experience in the city, Hiro’s eyes wander to Tatsuki’s body, taking in his enormity and musculature. Carpentry seems to produce strong men. Perhaps he would like to come see what the job is like? As Tatsuki continues to become inebriated and Hiro continues eyeing him, the dragon permits the boy to start caressing him.

(bgm free0421)

They begin getting increasingly handsy with each other, though Hiroyuki tries to back out as Tatsuki forces him to continue to touch his lower body. Meanwhile the guys casually observe the scene with indifference, after all, this happens all the time.

(bgm free44)

They proceed to restrain and tie up the harasser then throw him outside to wait out his drunken stupor. The meal resumes.

2. Next to Kouya[]

Kouya 6060

Kouya Aotsuki

You’ve chosen to sit next to Kouya, upsetting Torahiko. Clearly Kouya won this little bout with him. Juuichi drags him away painfully so he would stop bothering the couple. The food and drinks are served. After recovering, Torahiko starts the toast, bidding the guest of honor to speak. Hiroyuki begins to shy away. Kouya tries to ease his tension. With everyone’s support, he concludes the toast.

Sitting back down, the two discuss his nervousness and Kouya’s encouragement. They continue to talk about what’s changed and what hasn’t; in the meanwhile Hiroyuki feels embarrassed by a lot of what he says. These past few years Kouya has joined a band as the guitarist. He invites Hiro to hear him play live and even take some lessons. He happily agrees. With that, they resume eating.

[Jump to Day 2]

3. Next to Shin-kun[]

Shin 9474

Shin Kuroi

You ask Shin’s permission to seat yourself next to him. His responses are terse, but Kouya reveals he was the earliest to arrive at the party. Shin continues trying to be anti-social, however he keeps getting teased on all sides. He looks at Hiroyuki with contempt.

Everyone backs off in time for the toast to commence. As Hiroyuki tends to his meat, Shin insists on teaching him how to cook it well. His brusque manner of speaking while idly poking his own food confuses Hiroyuki: is he mad at him or something?

Tatsuki wanders over to bother the two, shovels too many vegetables onto Hiroyuki’s plate, then he wanders off. Getting back to the meal, Shin offers his meat in exchange to Hiro. Surprisingly, he wasn’t being very high brow about it either. He was actually chowing down on his plate, with a hint of a smile.

[Jump to Day 2]

Kounosuke

Kounosuke Kuri

4. Next to Kounosuke[]

Hiroyuki sits down with Kounosuke - though there isn’t enough room. Torahiko feels snubbed by this decision. After seating somewhere else, Kounosuke proceeds to barrage him with questions about the city. Tatsuki stops by, st-stuttering that he needs to chill. Kounosuke is sorry about that. After the toast, the meat is served. However while Hiroyuki wasn’t looking, his salted tongue disappeared… “survival of the fittest!” proclaims the guilty offender. He reaches over to snatch Kounosuke’s weiner in revenge. The pair continued their meat grabbing war all night.

[Jump to Day 2]

Kyoji 3466

Kyouji Takahara

5. Across from Kyouji-senpai and Soutarou-kun[]

Kyouji-san calls Hiroyuki over to sit with him and Soutarou. The meat is served. Kyouji & Soutarou have cute interactions together, almost like a married couple. After the toast, everyone digs in. The pair talk about soccer practice together. Kyouji’s love for it hasn’t changed in years, and neither has his facial expression- or relative lack thereof. His eyes remain as closed, calm, and unreadable as ever. His body’s changed though, getting stronger from intense exercise. He's a truly mature father figure. Not that he’s actually that old. Although, he tends to dote on and spoil Soutarou, feeding him like one would a son.

Soutarou 2239

Soutarou Touno

Later on Kyouji invites him to spectate their soccer practices. It would be a good way to bond with Soutarou, who has barely even spoken with Mr. Hiroyuki Nishimura. For his part, he’s heard many interesting things about everyone’s old friend. As he shies away from the conversation while Kyouji gently nudges him, a drunken Tatsuki barges in asking if this was a marriage interview. Kyouji contributes to the marriage joke. After turning the alcoholic away, the two nervous matchmaking candidates berate Kyouji; he continues to tease his pupil. He then soothes the young lion. And with that the awkward atmosphere between two strangers dissipates.

[Jump to Day 4]

6. Juuichi-san is still continuing with judo, huh?[]

Juuichi

Juuichi Mikazuki

Hiroyuki comes back from the restroom, admonished for taking so long. Torahiko attempts to cajole him over to his side; which again leads to an argument with Kouya. The tiger is swiftly punished by a squeeze to the tail. Juuichi is really a terrifying mediator. Everyone but Tora raises a toast to Hiroyuki’s return.

Afterwards he glances over at Juuichi, who has already silently begun eating. Tatsuki wobbles in with some beer, oblivious to the fact that everyone is still in high school. He starts to sexually harass Juuichi. The next moment he was instantly on the floor. Judo masters are not to be messed with.

Hiroyuki flatters the grumpy bear’s judo prowess until he gives his first small smile of the evening. Though that just leads Hiroyuki to wonder about his general mood. Kyouji pitches in, confirming that his scowl is just his normal face. With a face like that though, he even scares children just by standing around. He’s in fact in a good mood, but it’s clear that the teasing gets to him.

The rest of the night consists of people shoving meat onto Hiroyuki’s plate.

[Jump to Day 2]

Shun 1635

Shun Kodori

7. Dinner with Shun[]

You choose to seat yourself next to Shun and his big, round puppy eyes. He’s so happy to see you again! The conversation with him is rapidfire and his movements are animated. He doesn’t seem to have table manners. It’s almost as if Shun had not matured at all since Hiro-san left, in both behavior and in appearance. He remains as small and cute as he ever was.

[Jump to Day 2]

8. Torahiko's Welcome[]

Torahiko 9504

Torahiko Ooshima

Torahiko is chosen as the winner. The two sit together, in very close physical contact. He trades banter with Juuichi, culminating in a brutal fat joke, responded to in kind by an equally brutal kick under the table. Later, the mountainous platters of meat came out for everyone to cook to their heart’s content. The aromatic smell of cooking meat gets everyone hungry. Juuichi pulls out a bottle of honey for yakiniku, ew.

Torahiko helps grill the meat & veggies and passes out the food to everyone. He gets his cooking talent from (unpaid) working at his Ooshima family inn. It’s a reputable place, famed for its hot springs and his father’s cooking. Having inherited the talent, Tora proposes for Hiro to try some of his own cooking.

As the meat finishes grilling, Torahiko makes a game of grabbing the meat faster than Shun. He cheats only to be met with yet another blow to the shin. He’s out of commission for a bit.

The party is reaching its climax and everyone is still scarfing down food. Juuichi warns Tora not to overeat before his upcoming swim meet. He’s always been the fastest swimmer, and in high school he’s reached renown as a top athlete in the swimming world.

Tatsuki pops up, getting flirty with Torahiko. The flirting begins to turn into hugging, then kissing… now it’s his turn to get smashed by Juuichi’s one-armed shoulder throw. Definitely no more alcohol for tonight. After reviving, he was escorted outside by Shun. Bad idea however, as screams of molestation can be heard. Cue a rescue. It seems like the gang always has something wild going on.

Back to Torahiko: due to his schedule, he’s a really busy tiger. And yet he takes it all in stride. Well all except for homework that is. He appeared to have such a carefree approach to school, until he showed how down he really feels about it. Hiroyuki cheers him up with food and his mood flipped like a switch. He really has stayed as simple and childish as ever.

[Jump to Day 6]

The Party in Full Swing

(bgm free02)

The party is starting to wind down. It was nice to see everyone again after all this time, but still, Summer Vacation is only starting. There’s plenty of time to meet up every day. They can even play a 24-hour game of tag! Nah, it’s a ridiculous idea (but surprisingly the moodier guys were up for it). How about a more Summerish plan, like the beach? Thus they settled on a beach day.

(bgm free31)

So the last thing to do is take a group photo - “Welcome Home, [Hiroyuki]!” He’s returned home, to where his best friends are. He has the whole next month to make new memories.

August 2[]

Shin[]

Shin Calm

Old Memories and a Capricious Cat

(bgm tam_n06)

Hiroyuki heads out for a walk, noting that the village generally remained as he remembers. He rings the doorbell of a Western looking mansion. The butler escorts him to his friend Shin, who asks why he came. He had no reason. How impulsive.

(bgm piano3_015)

Heading inside, we see a charming old house: nothing fancy, but not cheap either. The A/C is also heavenly. Said A/C puts him right to sleep on the sofa. Shin is quite shocked at how brazen he can be, kind of like Kounosuke (he likes it tho).

Shin serves ice tea & cookies with beauty & grace. Hiro… is neither of that, which embarrasses him. He shoves a cookie in his mouth to prove it, Shin is simply happy he enjoys it. But the cookies really were good: Where did he order them from?

  1. So it is an import?
  2. Something actually cheap and nearby?
  3. Could it be… Handmade?

1. So it is an import? (wrong choice)

Shin thinks you’re exaggerating.

[Jump to flashback]

2. Something actually cheap and nearby? (neutral choice)

Shin giggles.

[Jump to flashback]

3. Could it be… Handmade? (right choice)

Shin affirms that he baked them.

Exploring the Mansion

It turns out the cookies were originally his butler Amaki’s recipe. Hiro remembers begging for sweets from him along with Kounosuke & Torahiko when they were little. Back then, when Shin moved here he was always a crybaby outcast.

(bgm free0213)

深の家リビング hiru

He didn’t have any friends at first, even though he wasn’t really mean or anything. But now that Hiroyuki is older, he realizes it’s because Shin looks half-foreigner, something more apparent to other beastmen than humans. That didn’t put off Kounosuke or Hiroyuki though. The stooges, including Tora, wanted to have a Mansion Exploration Tour in the weird house outside the village, so they used Shin to get in.

(bgm free44)

They proceeded to mess up the beds, rooms, and worst of all, tossed a black cat ornament around. Torahiko totally ignored little Shin’s pleas to give it back, until it bounced off Kouno’s head out the window.

(bgm melodious08)

Shin cried. But Amaki came and said nothing, in fact he continued to serve treats as if nothing happened. The guys still felt super guilty though. It was unclear whether Shin forgave them for that. Still, they were able to start talking again soon after, and from there became friends.

Time passes by quickly

(bgm free0258)

Hiro keeps trying to bring up bad memories like the river that caused Shin’s fear of water. But then, the clock rang to end the day. Hiro leaves, but he is not welcome back… jk. He thinks back on their reminiscing, noting that Shin hasn’t changed too much, except that he feels more gentler now.

[Jump to Day 3]

Kounosuke[]

Kounosukejoyful

At the bookstore

Hiroyuki is walking downtown, observing Minasato. It’s nostalgic. But it feels a little smaller, a little older, and a little emptier.

(bgm shop01)

He enters a small bookstore; it’s cold, a bit too cold? But better than the heat. He tries to find his magazines, but they’re outdated. The curse of living rural. He shops around for a half hour.

Library

Out of the corner of his eye he catches Kounosuke, completely engrossed in a magazine. He pays no heed to Hiro’s “hi’s” and wavings. Abruptly he gets up, buys his magazine, and leaves, walking right past him. Curious, he walks over to where Kouno just was. Oh my god… what was he reading?

(bgm shop03)

It was definitely the ultimate erotic gay beastmen’s book. Everything you could ask for in one thick volume. He hurriedly buys the jackpot and heads home to use his new acquisition.

[Jump to Day 4]

Shun & Kouya[]

Shun DizzyKouya Sigh

Let's Cool Off at the Riverbed

Hot. It’s sooo hot. Why is Minasato so hot? Sun. Global warming. Death, dehydration. Hot. Hot. Hooottt.

Oh… yeah the river is a great idea, much cooler. As he neared the familiar rush of refreshing water, he heard the voice of Shun & Kouya. They’d also come to escape the blazing heat. Shun says it’s the hottest day of the year. Hiro, overcome with heat delirium, pounces on Shun’s mouth before he could jinx the weather. Kouya saves him from being strangled to death. He tries to explain himself incoherently, but the two only stare at him coldly.

Shun, cheerfully, just wants to get in the water. Bliss. Peace. The thought occurs to him, how come these two - who have little in common - are hanging out now? Hm, but that’s a story for another day. Instead the 3 embrace the silent serenity of nature; it’s a way different feeling than the city. Kouya suddenly brings up a memory of when Shun almost drowned here when they were like 5. Hiroyuki’s memory of that event was a bit hazier. Does he even remember?

  1. Oh, I remember!
  2. Hmm, I can’t remember…
  3. Oh, is it time for a rescue story?

1. Oh, I remember! (right choice)

Well he sounds like a bad liar, cause they know he definitely forgot. How callous. Seems like these two were just teasing him though. They’re actually glad he remembers. Kouya catches Hiroyuki’s brain wandering off again.

[Jump to flashback]

2. Hmm, I can’t remember… (wrong choice)

Shun-kun is disappointed, it’s heartbreaking. But he really, really can’t remember. Any hints? Well Torahiko was panicking over ghosts, which was somehow more memorable to him.

[Jump to flashback]

3. Calling, Somewhere from Within (???)

(bgm tam_n06)

Oh, they’re talking about the river god. What the hell is Hiro saying? He continues to double down on a fanciful story, but it only results in pitiful stares. The pair talked about how Shun felt as they ignore him. Provoked, he set out to perform a deep processing through the currents of his mind. He’s found it! Oooooooaaaaaagh. He’s reincarnated back to reality.

A Story from Long Ago

(bgm free0213)

River

So the flashback actually went like this. It was also a hot day, so Torahiko got everyone to come play in the river. It felt very pleasant, and they played various water games. Later when they were bored, Kounosuke suggested they wade into the dangerous deeper parts in the middle of the river. They hesitated at first, but in the end their childish curiosity set in. The river was strong, but they pushed on. It was fun, until…

(bgm free27)

Shun got caught in the current since he was the smallest and most vulnerable. The guys panicked. Luckily adults were there. Back in the present, they discussed how they continued to avoid the river. Though now that Shun is a bit bigger and can swim, things should go a little differently this time. A crow cawed (sounds suspiciously like Shun yipping) to signal the end of the day. As they got up to dry, Hiro forgot a towel, which Kouya kindly provided. As the three parted ways, Shun tripped over himself. The crow/Shun cawed up above.

[Jump to Day 3 (Shun)]

[Jump to Day 5 (Kouya)]

Tatsuki[]

Tatsuki Angry

Playing with Tatsu-nii

(bgm free53)

Hiroyuki was invited over to Tatsuki’s house, while he still had chores left to do. He offers to help clean up instead of waiting. He backed out again when he had to sweep sawdust, what a lazy bum. In comparison to Tatsuki, who’s always looked forward to a future as a carpenter, Hiro had not matured. He’s in fact spacing out as they speak.

They discussed how the gang never used to be able to play around the house as kids, especially when his dad always got crazy mad at Hiro & Tora’s legendary pranks. Cue the devil.

(bgm free04)

A huge overwhelming dragon looms over the two. Tappei-san greets the homecoming Hiro, then immediately tears into his son for slacking off. Nope just kidding. He acts like such a dad. But still, it seems like Hiroyuki is just itching to work so why not help out around the workshop? Stacking lumber, organizing tools…

(bgm free44)

Tatsuki was not having it, exploiting his friend as cheap labour. Father and son get into a heated banter over this ridiculous proposal.

(bgm free0211)

Hiroyuki though, agrees to the offer considering that he’s kind of a broke high schooler. Plus, he gets to hang out with Tatsu-nii more often. Tappei invites him to dinner to discuss the terms, even though he just promised to play with Tatsuki earlier. What will you choose?

  1. But I promised to hang with Tatsu-nii.
  2. Let's talk with everybody over food.

1. Let's go play (correct choice)

He’s already made a promise. Maybe they can horse around with Tora like old times. As they say goodbye, Tappei’s lonely look guilts Hiroyuki. Tatsuki isn’t so swayed. With a bashful face he claims not to respect him.

The One who Cares

2. Let's talk with everybody over food. (neutral choice)

Hiroyuki sees the appeal of gathering around the table with a family of buff beastmen. Tappei would rather eat (drink) at the Raimon since “Ma” wasn’t at home. Tatsuki, who was appointed in charge of the wallet, tries to restrict his expenditure. He wins this time so they’ll stay at home instead. Tatsuki curses living with him, but with a bashful face he claims not to respect him.

The One who cares

Hiroyuki, who’s always feared Tappei, is starting to see him differently. While standing around, suddenly a haughty horse demanded to know what he was doing here. Hiroyuki, equally wary of this random stranger, imagines himself as The Great Detective who apprehends suspicious characters. In reality, the horse grabs him to take to the office.

(bgm free02)

Another rat apprentice recognizes him as big brother Hiroyuki-san. Apparently his name is legendary among the village kids, likely for all the pranks he did with Tora long ago. He introduces himself as Chuukichi. The horse is Nikaidou. The Young Master, or Tatsuki, comes in to confirm that Hiroyuki will be working with them. Nikaidou tells him not to get in his way. Such a snappy guy. In a way, he is pretty similar to Shin.

Everyone parts ways. Hiro reflects: by living together everyone is really close with each other. It’ll be fun & tough. They’ll also get stronger too. Tatsuki’s already gotten bigger in every way, from his muscles to his stomach. But dragonmen are naturally like that, it’s not fat at all /s. He pokes Tatsu until he chases him to Tora’s house.

[Jump to Day 3]

Juuichi[]

Juuichi Normal Pose

Meeting on the Second Day

Hiro is walking around Minasato. The cicadas are screaming, the sky is both thundering and blazing, the endless rice fields are growing. He thought about how much Torahiko’s grown, and how everyone still welcomed him back as an old friend after so long. While daydreaming, a voice calls out to Nishimura Hiroyuki.

Suddenly, a Bear!

(bgm free02)

He scares easily. But Juuichi was understandably worried about his disoriented friend. Nishimura clarifies that he was only walking down memory lane, even though he no longer recognizes some places. But now that he’s back for the summer they have the opportunity to make new memories.

They talked about Juuichi’s morning training for the upcoming tournament. He wants to come cheer for him. Juuichi’s intense practice even during his vacation impresses Nishimura. After all, if he slacks off like a regular person, he’ll only get regular results. They have completely different mindsets. Juuichi aims to win. The reason why he does judo is for that feeling of victory.

Juuichi gets shy thinking that he sounds boring. After being reassured, they separate to go their own ways. Hiro goes to look for a way to cool off.

Shin & Tatsuki[]

Shin's HeartSTatsuki's Heart

An Incompatible Person

(bgm daily04)

Hiro wanders over to an old sweets shop, where he recollects those days where he always got in trouble for coming here. He sees Tatsuki & Shin together; an unusual occurrence. They’re having an awkward conversation, one being blunt and the other being nervous. It’s a tense mood. He greets them.

Hiroyuki & Tatsuki can’t even imagine Shin being one for cheap candies, offending him. The tense atmosphere is back. You’ll have to focus on one person to talk to:

  1. Talk to Tatsuki
  2. Talk to Shin

1. Do you come here a lot, Tatsu-nii?

They fondly remember the old familiar taste of the candy shop. Tatsuki has cravings for them sometimes, he says it’s a part of his Japanese blood. He pointedly makes that last statement towards Shin. Hiro remembers something about Shin. Shin on the other hand hastily makes his leave.

After he left, Hiro professes that he never understood what made Shin feel so different when they were little. Tatsuki and other beastmen seem to be able to tell that the cat looks foreign. His mixed heritage used to get him a lot of uncomfortable stares.

Regardless, Tatsuki finds it difficult to chat with him because of their incompatible attitudes. There’s not much they could do about that, so in the end Tatsuki treats Hiro to some sweets, which he promptly abuses.

[Jump to Day 4]

2. What's Shin-kun's favorite?

Hiroyuki asks Shin his favorite candy. It happens to be a 5¥ chocolate, surprising him. Tatsuki likes ikataro, fried. Shin departs. Worried about his mood, Tatsuki nudges Hiro to go after him since he could probably communicate better.

(bgm piano3_015)

He catches up. Hiroyuki is worried about Shin for leaving so abruptly. It’s just that Tatsuki doesn’t give people any space, not bothering to understand him. Shin admits he would like to be better at talking too though. Hiroyuki is starting to see that Shin is not inconsiderate, but just the opposite.

They continue walking while eating cheap candies, just like they used to. As Shin is licking his syrup, a smile emerges on his face. Hiro caught a glimpse of his childhood friend’s true feelings.

[Jump to Day 4]

Shun[]

Shun's Heart

His Strongest Weapon, Once Again

(bgm free58)

The scene begins with Shun (or the crow?) crying and Hiroyuki all guilty.

Flashback to noontime. Hiroyuki heads out to try to make the most of his summer, even while the Sun is baking the countryside. Shun comes flying in and attaches himself. All that fur makes the heat delirium even worse.

(bgm pops_003)

Shun pulls him somewhere to go play. Hiro makes note of how his cute hair antenna, his ahoge, shakes. He imagines Shun eating ramen everyday must have stunted his growth. And the thought of A/C must feel really good right now…

Shun, who was trying to snap him back to reality this whole time, proposes cooling off at the river. That awakens Hiroyuki’s consciousness.

Let's go play

(bgm pops_003)

While splashing around in the river, Hiroyuki lusts after Shun’s small naked body. He has an imagine spot of Shun taking off his underwear for him to steal. He was spacing out again.

(bgm free51)

After some time the pair leave the river and head to the shrine. Shun ask if he will come to this year’s Bon Festival. Hiroyuki expects to participate after having missed it for 5 years. Meanwhile, images of Shun’s butt in a yukata, or a fundoshi, or his happi coat, race through his mind.

Although I was Spacing Out

(bgm free58)

Park

They walk around the village before stopping at the park. A crow goes *waow*. Shuns asks him why didn’t come back for 5 years. He sadly lets out a funyuuu when he hears he did it for Torahiko. He should have also written a letter too… He starts trembling & his eyes are dangerously close to tearing up. This moment is the scene that was foreshadowed from the beginning.

Guilty Hiroyuki imagines being arrested then executed for the crime of kidnapping & making this little wolf cry. Shun’s tearful face holds a truly destructive power. He feels like crying himself.

He wipes Shun’s tears away and reassures him Torahiko wasn’t his only reason. Shun confides that he was more worried that living in the city made him forget because it has so much more amenities and entertainment. Also, Hiroyuki’s repeated comatose behavior is because the village bores him doesn’t it?

Hugging Tightly

Hiroyuki brings him close to his chest. The city doesn’t have what he can only find in Minasato: Shun. And all of his friends, because they are all equally important to him. Hiroyuki loves him as he loves everyone else.

As Shun recovers, one more doubt remains. He will go back once summer vacation is over. Those sad puppy eyes are too overwhelming! Hiro replies: that is why they have to get plenty of play time before then.

(bgm pops_003)

With that Shun releases him from his vice grip. They’re gonna go play at the beach! The Bon Festival! Somewhere else! They’re gonna have lots of fun, because summer has only begun.

Tatsuki[]

Tatsuki's Heart
Note: If you chose Tatsuki on Day 2, you won’t be able to choose anyone else today.

Hiroyuki has nothing to do with his free time, and no energy to go outside. Then the phone rang. Tatsuki tells him to come over.

Drunk Dragons

At Tatsuki’s large spacious house, he tries yelling to get someone’s attention. The dragon answers the door, boisterously laughing and blushing red. He’s clearly a little buzzed. He ushers him inside to join in.

(bgm free0421)

Tappei sits around humming. He encourages the young minor to have a drink, offended when his offer is rejected. He lists off the many various types of liquor. Tatsuki settles on a classic vintage beer.

(bgm free44)

Tappei begins flirting with the smaller Hiroyuki. A riled up Tatsu jealously fights for his hand too. As his arms start to tear apart, he has to decide what to do:

  1. Party together
  2. Scold them both
  3. Call for help

1. Just a little bit… (wrong choice)

Note: This option will skip Day 5

They continue fighting. He agrees to participate, leading to 2 hours of nonstop boozing. It’s taking a toll on this teetotaler. However there’s no such word as giving up in the Midoriya handbook, so they drag him to Raimon to continue their little party. After another 2 hours, daddy and son are arguing over who gets to sleep with Hiro. Everything fades to black. As he comes to, the old manger hands him a bill.

(bgm free0531)

!!! That’s… more than a month's wages right there. Nevermind, it was a joke. Hiroyuki is gonna reevaluate whether alcohol is ever worth it.

[Jump to Day 6]

2. With Guts! (wrong choice)

Hiroyuki asserts himself. He is not a sex toy, and he is not going to drink! They tell him to shut up.

(bgm free44)

They rip into him: he’s a nobody, he’s slutty, angry, shameful, what happened to the old Hiroyuki? When they’re this drunk they get really nasty.

[Jump to Day 5]

3. Help (right choice)

They finally decide to let Hiroyuki choose between them who he likes.

(bgm free0205)

Wtf??? How can they spring this on him like that?? As he prepares to declare his love, the door opens.

(bgm free53)

Tatsuki’s mother Yukino greets Hiro and apologizes for their behavior. She skillfully manages her husband, who quickly abandons any desire to continue partying. Tatsuki apologizes for his behavior and they leave to have dinner.

Shin's HeartS

Shin-kun's Shopping

(bgm free53)

Hiroyuki is out shopping for errands, but he seems to be lost. He can’t even call anyone because of reception; it’s a pain that he can’t use his all-important cellphone anymore. Not to mention he’d never live it down if his friends had to hold his hand through a grocery run. Ah-! He bumps into Shin.

He helps him out with the rest of the shopping. Hiro is curious why Shin is out shopping by himself, he’d assumed that he could have high class stuff delivered directly to his house. But why should he, when there’s already fresh produce in the village? Looks like little Shin has gone native.

As he says, shopping can be fun; picking something for himself & checking to see if it’s within budget. To you, that attitude sounds so:

  1. Like a commoner
  2. Familial

1. Like a commoner (wrong choice)

Hiroyuki thought Shin was more detached from ordinary people than this.

Imposed Image

2. Familial (right choice)

Hiroyuki is surprised he helps around the house too, instead of relying on servants.

Imposed Image

Shin doesn’t know what kind of image he has of him, but he’s not that cut off from reality. He hates it. With the conversation turned awkward, they part ways.

Shun & Soutarou[]

Shun's HeartSoutarou's Heart

Lemonade and Marbles

(bgm daily01)

Hiroyuki is melting with sweat. His body is sending out an SOS: Save Our Sweats. He nearly passes out trying to reach the candy store. There’s two people sitting on the bench there.

Shun and Soutarou greet him, unbothered by the heat, but before that he has to get a bottle of Ramune. Even though he tries gulping it down, the soda just won’t flow out, obstructed by that renowned glass marble.

Shun apprehensively teaches him how to trap that marble so that he can actually drink his Ramune properly. It seems like this should’ve been common sense for anyone in the village. Especially Hiroyuki who used to always patron the shop. He forgot again. Living in the city robbed him of all his experience.

Halfsies

While he’s fidgeting with the soda, Shun & Soutarou are each sharing half of a popsicle. They look like even smaller little kids sitting like that, they don’t look at all like Hiro’s 15 years of age. He asks them: “It's only half [a popsicle]”? Shun replies that he can’t eat that much. Maybe it’s because he’s small, or vulnerable to the cold?

He compares the two: they’re similar in height though Soutarou is a bit more muscled from soccer training. The lion also gives his reply: too much sugar wouldn’t be good for practice.

He continues observing them eat the popsicles. His mind starts racing, watching them shove a rod in their mouths & swallowing. Shun tends to chew & swallow. Soutarou likes to lick up the shaft. Hiroyuki tries to control his immorality, but succumbs to the heat. Whose popsicle should he swallow?

  1. Get a bite of Shun-kun's
  2. Get a bite of Soutarou-kun's

1. A Bite from Shun-kun

(bgm pops_003)

Shun permits him to take a bite. He appreciates the size of the popsicle and fantasizes about Shun licking at it. However, his bite fell on the ground. He went to go buy another popsicle and give Shun his share back.

[Jump to Day 6]

2. A Bite from Soutarou-Kun

(bgm free0551)

He requests a bite from Soutarou’s popsicle. “Sorry, but no”. Rejection! He pushes him further. He protests, “but wouldn’t it be like an indirect *kiss*?” Shun being the innocent child he is, asks Soutarou to repeat himself. His cheeks redden in response.

Suddenly Shun exclaims that he won something. It turns out that the popsicle stick Soutarou was licking is the winner of some contest. He gives it to Hiroyuki instead. Darn, he managed to get away this time!

Juuichi[]

Juuichi's Heart

Firefly's Light, Lamplight, and the Day of a Promise.

(bgm free10)

It’s nighttime, and Hiroyuki is lying in his A/C-less room with nothing to do but sleep. That sleep never came however, because loud voices came on from the TV. He glances at the program that woke him up, it seems to be a documentary with fireflies on screen. That gives him the idea to go firefly catching! He hastily prepares to head out…

Lost Child Alert!

…anndd he’s lost. Even though Grandpa gave him directions, he’d forgotten about Minasato’s layout. It’s also way too dark to see in front of his feet. The only lights come from the moon, stars, and some faraway houses.

Feels like I'm cursed

There in the distance is a white light blinking slowly & rhythmically towards him. A light all alone, by the water, during summer? Could it be…? A ghost?!? He frantically pronates into the fetal position. The light came closer. He opened his eyes to see the severed head of a bear!!

(bgm free0531)

The bear head spoke. It was in fact Juuichi-san.

(bgm daily03)

He just happened to be worried by the scene that Nishimura was making. The ghost was just a flashlight.

Bear's Shadow in a Cup

Juuichi may be used to being called scary, but this is the first time he's been called a ghost! Hiroyuki feels ashamed that he forgot to take a flashlight himself, even when his Grandpa told him to bring one.

A mysterious story

Note: There seems to be a 1-in-4 chance for this event to occur
Nanafuse

A boy who looks like Shun with an eerily calm face admonishes Hiroyuki for making Juuichi so uncomfortable. Juuichi protests that he isn’t bothered, but the boy reminds him that he made another child cry the other day, which was very upsetting. Juuichi wonders how he knew, since no one else was there.

The boy also called him an old man, bothering him even more. Juuichi asks Hiro to back him up, but our stoned out protagonist has a word stuck in his head that he can’t remember. “Na-?” And why was he even talking to this kid? He froze in place. The boy looked at him, saying it was time to go. “Welcome back, [Hiroyuki]. I enjoyed talking to you.” He disappeared.

Hiroyuki sat dazed, unsure if he was talking to someone. Juuichi calls him weird for zoning out so much.

I Would Like a Ride Back, Please!

Hiroyuki has fallen and he can’t get up. He’s hopeless. Juuichi offers to take him home riding on his back. After whining a little, he hoists him up. The bear’s fur is softer than you’d think, it tickles.

Summer Piggyback!

Hiro is a little worried he might be too heavy. But Juuichi’s thrown around way heavier guys, like Torahiko. That naughty tiger has gotten more impulsive and rambunctious lately, as if he’s daring Juuichi to attack him.

Trying to change the subject, he asks why Juuichi was also up late. He was just taking his daily walk. Hiroyuki stated that he wanted to catch fireflies. Juuichi also seems to know the firefly place his Grandpa pointed out, commenting that he clearly got lost again.

He feels a little embarrassed being carried around like a child. He has an imagine spot of controlling the bear by the ears, but shudders upon thinking about being treated like Torahiko. Juuichi worries that he feels cold. On the contrary, Juuichi’s beastman fur is warm and comforting. It’s making him doze off.

He tries to resist passing out but Juuichi permits him to go to sleep. Besides, he already knows the way to his grandparents’ house. He embraces his soft, warm back and nods off.

(bgm free60)

At his grandparents’ house, Juuichi woke him up. The piggyback ride took half an hour. Juuichi gently lets him down, no worse for the wear. After some thanks, he asks if he could come firefly catching with him the next day. It’ll be more fun than going alone. And he will have to actually prepare this time. They look forward to tomorrow night.

Kounosuke[]

Kounosuke's Heart

Reunion with Yukiharu

(bgm free51)

Standing in front of an old store, the familiar scenery hasn’t seemed to change at all. A miniature version of Kounosuke comes out to attend to him. It seems like his big brother wasn’t home. Hiroyuki tries to get the little Yukiharu to remember him. After a few attempts, the boy finally recognizes him as Kounosuke’s troublemaking friend.

Kounosuke himself shows up behind Hiroyuki. Yukiharu complains that it’s his turn to watch the store; he should be allowed to go play now. Kounosuke only asks him if their parents knew he left. Hiro is worried they’re going to fight, but this is just a normal sibling interaction. Their mother Harue calls them in for lunch, and Hiroyuki is invited to eat with them.

Mrs. Kuri forces Kouno to man the store for the rest of the day. With a twinkle in his eyes, he manages to cajole Hiro into being a salesman with him for the whole afternoon.

Kouya, Kyouji, & Kounosuke[]

Kouya's HeartKyouji's HeartKounosuke's Heart

Candy Wars

(bgm daily01)

Hiroyuki heads to the old, retro, candy shop. It befits the nostalgic country atmosphere. All the local kids hang out here.

He sees three of the guys there. Everyone had the same thoughts, they’ve always used to hang around here so it’s become a tradition to continue to do so. Though having high schoolers around makes the place a bit scary for the younger kids. They tease Kouya for scaring them away with his wolf eyes (HUSKY!). Kounosuke apologizes in between noogies to the head. Looks like some things haven’t changed in 5 years.

They peruse through the wares inside the candy shop. Hiroyuki dithers here and there deciding. He decided on an umaibou - a fried stick with cartoons on it. Hadn’t had some in a while. He wonders what flavor would be good.

Hiroyuki catches the guys trying to sneak up behind him. On the contrary, they were disappointed it took so long for him to notice; he’s not even a shadow of who he used to be.

All that aside, Hiro still hasn’t decided which flavor of umaibou he was gonna go with: Kounosuke thinks it’s salad, Kyouji points towards cheese, and Kouya insists it’ll be takoyaki. So what will it be?

  1. Salad
  2. Cheese
  3. Takoyaki

1. Unity is Strong

Having chosen salad, Kounosuke eagerly jumps up in agreement. Salad is so refreshing! The other two slumped down in defeat. Salad fetishes aside, it’s not that serious…? Kouno buys both of them one to eat together with Hiro-kun. But those two’s behavior still bothers him. Later he heard from the shopkeeper that they lost a bet and had to buy two bottles of soda for the winner. It’s not good to gamble on such things. Absolutely. Bad.

[Jump to Day 6]

2. An Italian Feeling

Cheese is delicious, and Kyouji agrees. He felt icy stares from Kouya & Kounosuke. Even when he moved to sit alone with Kyouji, they continued staring with a defeated look. Later he found out why; supposedly they had a bet on which flavour he’d pick. Gambling is bad, don’t do it kids.

Kyou/tarou's Route ends here.

3. Just Eat

(bgm free0211)

Takoyaki, it’s a strong, dependable flavour and it even has more seasoning. Kouya pays for the both of them. Meanwhile the others were making reproachful faces at him, causing him to ask why. Hiroyuki refuses to take nothing as an answer and cons the truth out of them. The three fought over who started the bet. Aha! Busted. The suspects stood shocked, then said their sorrys & fessed up.

His Select Is...?

Candy shop

5 minutes ago, the guys were watching Hiro wander around, guessing what he’ll get. They accurately predicted the umaibou. But they couldn’t agree on which flavor he’d pick, so they made a bet for 2 large sodas. Kyouji taunts Kouya into participating by comparing him to Torahiko. They continued posturing and horsing around.

Things That Haven't Changed Between Then and Now

Back to the near present, Kyouji confesses he got carried away with the teasing. Hiroyuki agrees the whole situation is, um, what’s that word… dumb? Then he thought of a way to get back at them. He plays up his disappointment and shock at their appalling behavior. They absolutely must reimburse him with the soda that was being wagered.

(bgm daily04)

Then, he announced they should all drink it together. Everyone cheered up again. Kouya & Kounosuke admit that Hiro got them good this time. He’s probably even worse than Tora. In the end, things felt the same as always, laughing over simple stuff.

Tatsuki[]

Tatsuki's Heart

(bgm free0213)

Tatsu-nii pulls up beside Hiro in his truck. He just finished up work and after that take a bath & have a beer. Hiro sarcastically questions his drinking age. Undeterred, Tatsuki offers him a ride home. What will you do?

  1. Sorry, I have stuff I need to do.
  2. Uhh... Is your driving okay?
  3. Thanks, that'd be great!

1. Sorry, I have stuff I need to do. (neutral choice)

After some banter, Tatsuki sets off. He tells Hiroyuki to take care, but isn’t he the one who needs to take care? His driving’s too reckless, but ahh that’s just the way he is.

[Jump to Day 6]

2. Uhh... Is your driving okay? (wrong choice)

He’s been warned about Tatsuki’s driving. He timidly alludes to something about that, causing Tatsuki to tell him to say it upfront. But he really needs to finish his shopping too. Well okay, can’t help it then; Tatsuki supposes he’d rather not get in the truck with him afterwards either. He drives off; was he mad?

(bgm free0428)

He heard a braking sound and a crash. Smoke was billowing. It couldn’t be him? Looks like the Midoriya truck flipped over… uhhh Tatsu-nii?

[Jump to Day 6]

3. Thanks, that'd be great! (right choice)

Hiroyuki sat shotgun. Tatsuki remarks that he never lets just anyone sit there. Hiro worries over what everyone says about his driving, but the dragon guarantees that he drives it for work all the time.

(bgm free44)

His tires started groaning and kicking up dust. But don’t worry, the car’s just old, it’s fine… Except that the car started shaking and sputtered out before dying.

(bgm free0211)

Welp, looks like it’s out of gas. Oh well, that just means they have to push it home. These crazy Midoriyas.

Hiroyuki says he messed up again, as always. “What was that!?” Tatsuki objected. But he relents and says sorry and thanks for helping. Hiro steers while Tatsu-nii pushes the truck the rest of the way home.

[Jump to Day 6]

Juuichi[]

Juuichi's Heart

Pure, Ephemeral, Beautiful

(bgm shop03)

Hiroyuki heads out to meet up with Juuichi to catch fireflies. Initially he was going to prepare better, but he could only find a working flashlight. It lets him see a completely different Minasato from yesterday night.

A large figure shows up behind him. Jeez he should stop scaring the boy like that, humans don’t see as well as beastmen. Regardless, both of them showed up 15 minutes early to their meeting time. Juuichi doesn’t think it’s that early, but at least it’s better than a certain tanuki who’s always late.

They set out. He notices Juuichi carrying a flashlight-radio gizmo, it seems like an antique. He asks about the radio. It used to be his father’s, and it might even be older than they were! Even so, it’s a well built and functional tool and you tend to grow attached to things that you’ve had for a long time.

Hiroyuki is looking forward to the magical fireflies. “Magical?” Juuichi asks. He stammers out that he meant as in the “beauty of nature” and all that. He catches a glimpse of a smile in the dark. Juuichi should smile more often, he’s a handsome guy. Maybe less people would mistake him for an old man.

Juuichi is also intrigued now, as he doesn’t go firefly catching a lot. Hiroyuki wonders why he doesn’t, the village has so many beautiful things. But people would get tired of seeing beautiful scenery everyday. It’s better to keep it as a rare thing.

Learning to Walk, Juuichi-Style

So he doesn’t walk to admire scenery, but to calm his mind by listening to his steps. Hiroyuki decides to walk the same way, taking in the sounds of his steps, the river, the insects. Juuichi’s stride is longer and heavier than his. It’s like a whole different experience to rely on hearing instead of sight. They walked in silence for 15 minutes, which Hiroyuki was unnerved by, but Juuichi believes close friends don’t need to talk all the time.

Fireflies on an overcast night

They stopped and turned off the flashlights. It’s too dark, so Juuichi had Hiro hold his hands… no, it was just a joke. They veer off the path down a hill through thick underbrush. From behind, Juuichi’s back looks even bigger than usual. As they near the river, the number of green lights increases.

Green Lights Under the Night Sky

(bgm free31)

A spectacle of green fireflies dance before his eyes. This rippling array of living light really is as magical as he’d said. The pair admired the beautiful sight. Juuichi remarks about the short lifespan of the insects, their energy spent entirely devoted to glowing as brightly as they can. That catches Hiroyuki off guard. They joke about how poetic he can be.

He should have brought his phone to take a picture, but even that wouldn’t compare to the real thing. They stood silently enjoying the scenery for a while. However it was getting late. Juuichi asks if he’d like to come firefly watching again, but Hiro would rather appreciate the transience of the moment. He’ll keep this as a special memory of his summer.

August 6[]

Juuichi[]

Juuichi's Heart
Note: This cutscene occurs when you select Juuichi on Day 4 but fail to choose him again on Day 5.

Hiroyuki lazily wakes up, wondering what to do. Juuichi calls. In a serious tone, he lets him know he’d forgotten something. Seeing that he’d forgot what he forgot about, Juuichi simply sighs, “I guess promises don’t mean much to you, [Nishimura]."

Ahhhhh! He was probably waiting for him all night, worried that he’d gotten lost again, only to find him at home laughing at the TV. This is all his fault! Juuichi tells him not to invite him anywhere anymore. Promises are based on mutual trust, and his friend never used to break them before. But people change. He hangs up the phone.

Torahiko & Tatsuki[]

Torahiko's HeartTatsuki's Heart

First time use

(bgm piano_014)

Torahiko calls Hiroyuki over to his house. Tatsu-nii’s also coming. Today, they’re going to eat something yummy! He always gets Tatsuki to help taste-test his new recipes, but they end up tasty anyways so he doesn’t mind. Yesterday, he saw a program on Italian pasta which looked so good, so today they’re gonna help buy some spaghetti ingredients for him. What?? Yeah no, he’s coming along too. Apparently, Tora is reluctant mostly just ‘cause he’s scared to get in Tatsuki’s car.

Going on an errand

(bgm pops_004)

They make him come to do his own shopping despite his whining. However, it doesn’t look like there’s a lot of room in the truck for 3 people, especially with two muscleheads. And Torahiko absolutely will not sit in the back of the truck. So Hiroyuki will have to squeeze in the middle…

He forced his way in like a clown car. There was plenty of accidental groping involved. He had to stand and shift around. His ass got in Tora’s face. Finally he settled down on Tatsuki’s lap.

(bgm free22)

They finally arrived at a supermarket outside of Kazenari. Despite the screaming and the speeding, it was pretty safe, mostly because Tatsuki was extra careful with the company car. If it was his own car, things would be more exciting.

This import shop, World 21, is stocked up on all sorts of foreign goods and curiosities, like Mustang minicars and portable stoves. At the grocery section, there’s pastries & canned food. Tora recognizes the squab used in French cuisine. Hiro comments that Tatsuki could tear through that meat in seconds. But he’d rather have sake! Then what about Torahiko, he should be plenty carnivorous? Oh yes, Hiro may not have much meat, but he would cut him into 3 slabs and serve with dashi. But first he has to take off his clothes before the beasts can start nibbling…

Hiroyuki should really stop spacing out.

They found cartoon cheese, like in Tom & Jerry. Torahiko identifies it as Emmental cheese, but he’s not buying it. "Cheapass." “Stupid Kurara! Buy the cheese!!”

Tora relents and lets them. But now the cheese is too heavy–! So Tatsuki picks him up like a princess. He’s so high up now!! Torahiko gives in to the mayhem and pounces on the dragon. Tatsuki smoothly counters and sweeps him on the floor; he’s too easy to read when he does this all the time.

Torahiko's House

Ah the legend of the dragon & tiger. Hiro feels like a damsel caught between two raging forces of nature. Then a cashier tells the boys to settle down.

Back at the Ooshima residence, he now has everything needed to start cooking. 30 minutes later, the spaghetti is ready - though he had to get creative with some of the ingredients. He calls it zucchini and tomato vegetable pasta.

This is...

Tatsuki hurriedly takes a bite, it’s great! You also dig in, and it tastes:

  1. Delicious!
  2. Not that good.
  3. Disgusting!

1. Amazing (right choice)

(bgm pops_001)

It was awesome! Torahiko snidely says that Tatsuki always eats it even if it was bad. But he is really skilled, they both mean it sincerely. They ask for seconds. Tatsu-nii suggests he opens a restaurant so they can have him cook this everyday. He just calls the two hyenas. But they’re a dragon & a human though~ Still, it would be great to eat Torahiko’s cooking everyday…

2. Pasta should be… (wrong choice)

(bgm free0456)

Even though Tatsuki calls it great, you don’t think the same. It’s badly done. The sauce has flavour, but it’s watery and unsatisfying. It needed to be boiled longer, with basil, mozzarella, anchovies. The noodles were good, but keep in mind the humidity, the temperature, salt, and the timing. Presentation is also important. Tatsuki agrees, no one else bothers to eat his crap.

Lastly, there’s a faint smell - it’s a sweet and sour scent. Fruit? But it’s not orange, or peach, or nashi. Ah yes, he added apples right? In Italy you can substitute apples for tomatoes.

No, it was ketchup.

3. What should I do...? (Tatsuki’s route)

(bgm oo39_cho_ys001)

Um, you’re not a fan of spaghetti. But you can’t be rude either, time to bluff it. Mhm, yep. It’s good. Offended, Torahiko says they don’t have to eat it. After some wine & cheese Tatsuki wants dessert. He reaches over to Hiro for the ‘dessert’.

(bgm free44)

After all, didn’t he also grope him too, earlier in the car? The drunk continued to sexually harass him. Still insulted, Torahiko only offered to take away his inedible cooking. Alas, poor misunderstood Hiroyuki.

Kounosuke, Torahiko, & Shun[]

Kounosuke's Heart Torahiko's Heart Shun's Heart

Right, let's take Paranormal Pictures

Hiroyuki leaves the candy store with ice cream in hand. It’s still hottt. Kounosuke calls out to him from across the street. He rushes over, sweating and panting. He’s eyeing his ice cream, but Hiroyuki remains a tightwad. Getting back on track, Kounosuke asks him to meet up at the school around 7 or 8 for a test of courage! He begs profusely. You decide:

  1. Well, if you insist…
  2. Sounds suspicious. I'll pass.

1. Well, if you insist… (right choice)

As long as he isn’t planning anything fishy, why not? Kounosuke vigorously shakes his hand up and down so hard he dropped his ice cream -.- . Oh, sorry. He runs off to prepare for tonight. What a guy. Well he always used to be carefree, but today he seems restless. Ah shoot, when he’s like this it usually means he has some good-for-nothing plan. Well he’s a good guy - a little weird and annoying - but he means no harm. All the same, you’re excited for tonight.

[Continue]

2. Sounds suspicious. I'll pass. (wrong choice)

Sorry, not today. His shoulders droop in depression. You resist the urge to feel guilty: when he’s like this it means he’s up to no good. He doesn’t mean any harm, but let’s not get tangled in another one of his schemes.

Right, let's take Paranormal Pictures (cont.)

In front of the school at 7, you’re met with Torahiko & Shun. And of course, no Kounosuke in sight. Even when he was the one who invited everyone, he'd still show up late. Come on he’s already in high school and he still hasn’t gotten rid of his habits. Shun is concerned about how late it’s getting; that’s right he had a curfew didn’t he? Actually his parents allowed him to stay out today.

(bgm free0468)

Half an hour later, Kounosuke shows up with the gall to say they kept *him* waiting. And no he wasn’t late; he said 7 or 8 didn’t he? Torahiko gets up to leave, causing Kouno to beg him to stay.

Now that everyone’s here, the test of courage can commence. “Coura…!?” yelps Tora. That’s right, it’s a summer night at school isn’t it? He takes out a flashlight to set the mood. He proposes the “Seven Wonders of Minasato School” challenge. They will divide into 2 teams, and for every photo of where a wonder was rumored to be, they’ll earn some points.

Torahiko is starting to worry, what if they actually encounter… something?? Though Kounosuke doubts it, he’d be excited if they did.  …So basically this whole thing is a setup so he can take ghost photos.

Torahiko wants to back out of this, but Hiroyuki finds the idea intriguing. Besides, he has fond memories of the school. Kounosuke keeps excitedly yammering about his plans while Shun & Torahiko silently give in. Now, you have to decide how to split the teams:

  1. Go with Kounosuke.
  2. Go with Torahiko.
  3. Go with Shun.

Secret of the Seven Wonders

Shun wonders about something: Kouno said 7 wonders, but he only remembers 6? Hiro pitches in - no one knows what the 7th wonder is, something strange will happen when you find it - he tried sounding eerie while saying this. Shun isn’t convinced. Like basically it’s supposed to be a “secret you’re not supposed to know” sort of story.

Kounosuke complains that he’s actually seen the 7th though. He’s done the research and found documents. "D-don't take my intelligence work… so lightly!" He’s being strangely on edge. But anyways, they separate into their teams and head inside.

1. Gossip-loving Tanuki

The Library. Where “The Enthusiastic Bookworm” resides. There was a book loving student who died in an accident. Sometimes, you can find a mysterious student reading a book here. The moment you look away they disappear.

The duo try to get in, but the library is locked. They’re discouraged; what if all the rooms are locked? Kouno thinks about stealing the keys from the staff room. No wait, it’s just a joke! That probably wasn’t a joke. Teaming up with him was the right idea, to keep an eye on him.

The Gym. It's rumored that "The Headless Basketball Player" is here. A teacher saw a student playing basketball at night; he had no head. His head was a ball instead. The head he was holding laughed at him and disappeared.

They discussed the veracity of the story. Kounosuke’s research told him the ghost originally apologized to the teacher, and that volleyball used to be the popular sport. The story has changed a lot since its inception. Kouno is proud of his intelligence network.

The Art Room. There’s a lot of rumours. At night there’s a shadow drawing, a soul, a moving Mona Lisa, a talking Mona Lisa, a ghost making sculptures… They call it “The Arts and Crafts Room of Mystery”. It’s a pretty creepy enough room by itself, shining a flashlight on it just enhances the eeriness.

Kounosuke is unaffected. He’s meticulously searching for something. Hiroyuki tells him to hurry up. Kouno calls him rude. He’s way too calm about this. He finally shines a light on what he’s looking for: a single picture.

(bgm free58)

This is the wonder of the art room. It was a crude drawing made with crayon by an elementary kid. There’s a school, and some kids playing, a picture of sports day. This isn’t scary? That Mona Lisa on the wall is way creepier. Kounosuke claims a ghost drew this picture.

It’s the story of "The Lonely Artist". Long ago, there was a frail kid. He wanted to play with the others but couldn’t. So from this room he watched and drew pictures of them playing with him. Unfortunately he grew weaker and died. Then his spirit settled into the drawing so he can play with everyone. Here is where the story diverges and evolved: the picture will suck you in! It turns you into a sculpture! The Mona Lisa turns you into sculptures! Stuff like that. That's why it’s called, "The Arts and Crafts Room of Mystery.”

Kounosuke’s view is that ghosts were people once, so there’s really no need to be scared. Although, what he’s more afraid of, is an annoying partner! And the artist of the drawing? He’s actually still perfectly alive. Hiro gets confused as Kouno starts laughing, “Have you not noticed it yet, [Hiroyuki]?”

(bgm oo39_cho_ys001)

He takes a closer look at the drawing. It’s signed: “[Hiroyuki Nishimura], 5th year”. This was his own drawing! He got completely fooled~

However the story was all true, except the drawing later disappeared. For the rest of the night Kounosuke had a smile stuck to his face.

Surprisingly, they got back to the front door before the others, with Kouno snapping photos at everything.

Around the corner, the opposing team ran like mad screaming “GET OUT!!” Torahiko is terrified of something they encountered, meanwhile suffocating Hiroyuki in a bear hug. Just before he crosses the Sanzu, he’s let go and allowed to recover his oxygen. Though barely conscious and blurry, he makes out a white blobby shape in front of them.

Looking a second time, the boys saw a large thick pigman about to angrily punch their lights out. It’s their teacher Botan! “WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE, AT A TIME LIKE THIS!!??"

(bgm free51)

After a few raps to the head, they were tossed out. This whole thing was Kounosuke’s fault.

Hiro scolds Tora for bringing him to death’s door. However while there he did see something strange for a moment.

Kounosuke calls Tora a meathead. They bickered while walking - with Tora complaining, Shun needing to be consoled, and Kounosuke blabbing. Hiroyuki thinks fondly about how the group has always been like this.

2. The Cowardly Tiger

The Gym. It's rumored that "The Headless Basketball Player" is here. A teacher saw a student playing basketball at night; he had no head. His head was a ball instead. The head he was holding laughed at him and disappeared.

Torahiko is grabbing Hiroyuki’s arm too tightly. It’s not unwelcome, but this kinda hurts. He accuses him of being a scaredy cat, to much protest. He’s starting to hate this stupid test.

"The Spiral Staircase of Evil." If you walk up these stairs without paying attention, you’ll never get to the end. There’s also some mirrors up there that lead to the underworld.

.................

.................

.........................

His arm is in pain. Torahiko is so hopeless that Hiro can’t even properly feel fear right now. He takes the photo to leave. But there seems to be something in that mirror.

He calls the tiger over to inspect. There’s something… behind Torahiko! A hand reaches out from the darkness to grab his shoulder.

"UWAAAAAA!!"

Tora dashes up the stairs with Hiro close behind. Did he see that?!?! Yep, it was his hand all along. Ack-! He blurts out an apology in the middle of a strong headlock. Hahaha, he’s just way too easy to scare. It’s so cute the way he denies it too.

Somewhere in the dark, they hear a ticking sound. It’s a metronome, coming from the music room. Inside would be the wonder of "The Shapeless Musician”. Even when there’s no one in the room, you would hear the sound of a piano, and a metronome.

They discuss whether to investigate for pictures, Hiro wins out. As they approach the room, it’s clear that no one is around, since it’s summer and all. They peer into the open door, to be met by a white flash of light! Ahhhhh!!!

The flash came from a camera held by a familiar looking tanuki laughing at them. “KOUNOSUKE!!" They murder him with a headlock + noogie combo. Jackass! The school goes silent again as they turn off the metronome. Ahah, but that was fun, no? Torahiko’s scowl remains. They ask where Shun is. He left him behind on the ground floor. So irresponsible!

They angrily follow after Kouno down the stairs. It’s very nostalgic having the three of them grouped like this, always up to playing pranks. The tanuki keeps badgering a tiger about how to have fun. They make it down the stairs.

Shun is nowhere to be seen?? They turn around to ask Kounosuke, but no one’s there anymore! They call out to him.

“Boo!”

Oh those two are so dead. Shun and Kounosuke step out of the shadows. Tora pounces on-sight, fully intending to make him the seventh wonder. Kounosuke ducks behind the Shun-shield, the poor thing. Hiroyuki breaks up the scene.

They head home, teasing each other the whole way. Ah, like things always used to be.

3. Small Wolf

"The Spiral Staircase of Evil." If you walk up these stairs without paying attention, you’ll never get to the end. There’s also some mirrors up there that lead to the underworld.

Shun fearfully clings to Hiroyuki, who has to mask his own fear for his sake. They take their picture. They hold hands up the stairs. But not like on a date. Wait, what?

Hiro asks the small wolf if he knew anything about the wonders. He didn’t; apparently the rumours aren’t as famous as he thought. Seems like they were something that only Kounosuke would gossip about. He tells Shun about the Seven (or Six) Wonders:

The Spiral Staircase of Evil.

The Moving Mannequin.

The Headless Basketball Player.

The Shapeless Musician.

The Enthusiastic Bookworm.

The Arts and Crafts Room of Mystery.

As they’re talking, Hiro felt that it took a while going up this flight of stairs. It’s only his imagination. Yep, imagination.

The Library. Where “The Enthusiastic Bookworm” resides. There was a book loving student who died in an accident. Sometimes, you can find a mysterious student reading a book here. The moment you look away they disappear.

It’s locked. Well, can’t do anything, so they take their photos. He’s still unnerved by what happened.

The Science Room. Rumoured to house "The Moving Mannequin”. There’s an old, creepy mannequin in there, said to move around at night.

As Hiroyuki can attest, it already scares you just by touching it, since its arm fell off. The science room is the scariest place at school, well maybe besides the bathrooms at least.

He hesitates to go in, he’d rather skip this wonder altogether. Shun is confused, isn’t the mannequin gone? They threw the old thing away already. Well since there’s nothing to be afraid of anymore, let’s go in!

Warning: Jumpscare

AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Didn’t they get rid of it!?!?! He violently shakes Shun in his panic. Hauu… his eyes are spinning, and his body goes limp. Oh no, he ruthlessly concussed Shun-

(bgm ambience01)

He works up the courage to enter the room. Huh? The mannequin looks… new? Oh, the school must’ve thrown the old decaying one away. Everyone relaxes in relief. It’s still creepy though. They take their photos & leave.

While walking, Hiro asks Shun why he agreed to come, since he has his curfew and all. It was because Kounosuke did his begging routine; what a shameless display! Shun tries to defend his honor, to no avail.

They meet up with the others by the front door. They find Kouno mocking the cowardly tiger. He activates the Hiroyuki Barrier to protect himself from retaliation. Shun tries breaking it up, distracting him long enough to leave an opening for Tora to strike. He retreats behind his backup Shun Shield.

They break it up under Hiro’s insistence. On the way home, their little game continues. Hiro reflects on how the mood has always been like this before he moved.

Heading home

Kouno is excited to develop his film the next day. Tora tells him to go die. They part ways and say their farewells. What a crazy night; as for the ghost photos, well, he’s not expecting much.
